27th November, 2024
The Nepal Private Equity Association (NPEA) successfully concluded the first in a series of four policy dialogues planned over the next 18 months, with support from the USAID Trade and Competitiveness Program. Held on November 27, 2024, the dialogue brought together representatives from the Nepal Rastra Bank, the Department of Industries, private equity fund managers, the Nepal Stock Exchange, and other key stakeholders.
The program addressed several pressing policy issues, including blacklisting provisions, double taxation pass-through, and more. The event commenced with welcome remarks by NPEA Chairperson Mr. Siddhant Raj Pandey, followed by a presentation titled “PEVC in Nepal: Regulatory Issues for Policy Consideration” by Mr. Anup Upreti from Pioneer Law Associates.
An open floor discussion followed the presentation, providing an opportunity for private equity fund representatives to share their insights on regulatory challenges and directly engage with representatives from regulatory bodies. The program concluded with closing remarks by Ms. Agnes Luz, Chief of Party, USAID Trade and Competitiveness.
This inaugural session was a resounding success, and we look forward to continuing collaboration with industry stakeholders and partners in the coming dialogues.
