Unlocking the Potential of PEVC Investments in Nepal

The Nepal Private Equity Association (NPEA) and Invest for Impact Nepal (IIN) jointly organized an event titled “Unlocking the Potential of PEVC Investments in Nepal” on October 23, 2024.

The program commenced with opening remarks from NPEA Chairperson Mr. Siddhant Raj Pandey. This was followed by a presentation from NPEA Manager Ms. Sabrina Adhikari, who highlighted key insights from the association’s market report, underscoring the growth trends within Nepal’s private equity industry. Mr. Anup Upreti from Pioneer Law Associates led an engaging session on Nepal’s PEVC regulatory framework outlining areas for further regulatory development to stimulate more robust investment.

A key highlight of the event was the launch of the NPEA Investment Platform, designed to centralize essential PEVC investment data. This platform was inaugurated by H.E. Mr. Rob Fenn, British Ambassador to Nepal, and H.E. Dr. Danielle Meuwly, Ambassador of Switzerland to Nepal.

Another highlight of the event was a panel discussion moderated by Mr. Buddhika Samarasinghe, Program Director at Invest for Impact Nepal, which focused on strategies to drive PEVC growth in Nepal. The panelists for the session were:

• Mr. Srini Nagarajan, Managing Director and Head of Asia, British International Investment (BII)
• Dr. Nabaraj Adhikari, Executive Director, Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON)
• Mr. Khagendra Basnet, Director, Department of Industry (DOI)
• Ms. Nikita Bajracharya, Senior Investment Manager, Dolma Impact Fund
• Mr. Rajendra Khetan , Chairman, Khetan Group

The event brought together attendees from diverse sectors—including private equity fund managers, development finance institutions, development partners, insurance companies, and high-net-worth individuals—reflecting the growing interest in Nepal’s investment landscape.

The event concluded with an engaging networking session and dinner.
